Doma Dance Theater Hosts International Choreographer for Residency and Workshops

Doma hosted Artistic Director Alexandra Bodnarchuk and Viliam Mikula of PUL’S Presov for a 10 day research residency at Doma’s studio in August. During this time Bodnarchuk studied Carpatho Rusyn dances from the Saris region of Northeastern Slovakia as well as dance theory with Mikula. Their work was shared over 4 community events (8/23 event not included in graphic).

Alexandra Bodnarchuk is a fiscal year 2025 recipient of a Creative Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.


Candy Box Work-In-Progress Showing

Doma’s community partner, the Rusin Association of MN, generously hosted Doma Dance Theater for a Work-In-Progress showing of the piece they are creating for the Candy Box Dance Festival. During this hour long event audiences got to see some of the new work, ask questions of the artistic team, and learn verses from Ivanku, Ivanku, the folk song that inspired this work.
